Yeah, the click area for re-gaining focus on the text-input is actually fairly small, but it is there. Aim for right next to the arrow.

I think it should never loose the pointer… ever.

Doesn't it make more sense for whatever you click on to gain focus?

seems to me like the text-input should always have the focus.

Yeah, an ongoing issue for me is that the text-input loses focus and I start frantically clicking the black area which works in Terminal but not TermKit.

Just wanted to say I expected the text-input to gain focus when you select the window / click anywhere in the window which is not selectable

The expected action, at least to me, would be to jump back to the text input as soon as a key is pressed when it's deselected. Similar to Adium... when you interact with the chat messages, as soon as you start typing, it jumps from the webkit instance to the textbox.
