Import to Kindle failed #2
Comments
Interesting. epubcheck reports no issues with the Oct 2023 file. Did any of your attempts to import to Kindle give you a specific error message that might provide some insight? Also, what tool did you use to convert the file? |
Amazon unfortunately doesn’t give much of an error message. “
A document, sent at 01:53 PM on Sat, Dec 23, 2023 GMT, could not be
delivered.”
I used
https://cloudconvert.com/epub-converter (from your recommendation, worked
well).

I got the same error. I tried a solution I found on reddit that worked. Use Calibre (I'm on 7.9, but it should work with any version) to convert the file from epub to mobi, then covert again from mobi to epub. |
Kindle import doesn't seem to like the generated EPUBs. (See #2.) Provide AZW3 files as well for 2023 and 2024 (older years already have MOBI files), and generate AZW3 files as well by default. Also add a note to the readme about how conversion may fix issues.
I've added

Unfortunately - and weirdly - AZW3 doesn't work for either Send to Kindle
(see supported file types:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=G5WYD9SAF7PGXRNA)
or sending via the iOS Share Sheet.
I used Calibre to transfer your most recent EPUB directly to Kindle over
USB and that worked - but I also understand Calibre converts those files in
that process.

I've added .azw3 files for recent conferences since the Kindle import
won't seem to work with the .epubs. Can one of you try importing these
files to confirm that they work?

That is bizarre -- it's literally Amazon's own file format. 🤷 I'll provide EPUBs that have been converted to AZW3 and back instead. Can you try these ones out?
|
Thank you for creating this! Reporting a curious issue: importing EPUB to Kindle (for Oct '23 file) failed repeatedly. Tried multiple interfaces (email, web, iOS share sheet). Import of the same file to Apple Books succeeded. Suspecting there was some idiosyncrasy with the file format, I converted from EPUB to AZW3 and then back to EPUB. This newly converted EPUB successfully imported to Kindle.
